Hi,

Weird request, but I'm looking for fics (they'll have to be AUs I think) where Tony isn't recognised as being Tony Stark. I don't mind as to the context -it may be an au Stony/winteriron/gen fic where Steve/Bucky/anyone doesn't recognise him and Tony kinda goes along with it. It may end up turning into an elaborate facade that gets out of hand or a quick exchange where someone treats Tony one way, Tony tells them who he is, and they freak out.

The only fic I could think of was 'A Higher Form of War' (which is awesome).

Literally anything that has Tony not recognised/undercover is fine. Would prefer slash but I'm not being picky with this one.

There's AlyKat's On a Wing and a Prayer (http://download.archiveofourown.org/works/5029906), maybe? It's a Clint/Coulson main pairing set in WWII, but Tony is a fairly major character...

so, hey, I don't have any recs, sorry. :(
What I have is a kinda weird request. You see, I started reading 'A higher form of war', and it's excellent, but, well, I have this thing when some sets of circumstances make my brain go highwire, conjuring a thousand ways in which this can go bad, and then I'm afraid to read any further, even though I know that the story probably isn't going to be even half as bad as what I'm imagining. I hit a moment like this during the Stane's trial, when he called Steve to be his witness.
Could you maybe summarize for me what happens during the trial, so that I can brace myself and push past that scene?

Okay so spoilers: Obi tries to weasel his way out of things and calls Steve to be his witness. Steve is many things, but he is smarter than people give him credit for. He holds his own just fine. (SPOILER) Obie gets convicted and sentenced to death. He gets hanged.

FYI (minor spoilers), there's nothing BUT misunderstandings between Tony and Steve for pretty much the rest of the fic. Because they're both idiots. Steve says something Tony misinterprets, Tony says stupid things, Steve gets annoyed and rinse and repeat. It all gets sorted out in the end and the epilogue is not only awesome, it is also adorable.

This fic is definitely worth reading. Let me know if you'd like a more detailed summary (I tried keeping it vague so that it's not completely spoiled) and I'd be happy to provide one.

Thank you. Most of my worries centered around Stane somehow managing to manipulate Steve and/or twist the events to his favor. Knowing that Steve would have none of this, I was able to grit my teeth through that horrible monologue of a questioning, and now it's all good.
(Well, not really, but now it's just the two dorks making their own problems, and I'm fine with that. ;)
