Cap turns to the dark side.

I've seen a couple of stories where Steve basically gives up or goes catatonic when he kills the Winter Soldier on the bridge, then realized who WS is.  While half asleep my mind came up with a question: What if Cap decided to follow Bucky/WS or what if Bucky's death tottally broke him and he went psychotic or evil?  In other words, what would happen if Captain American went totally over to the dark side, either joining or leading Hydra (not him being Hydra from the beginning, please.  I don't buy that.) or off on his own, maybe tearing down Hydra and anyone else who gets in his way?  Maybe with Bucky and/or Widow?

Could the nasty and frightening dream I had just woken up from enfluenced that dark train of thought?  Who knows.

I don't really read dark!fics, but this one has Steve making choices because of his relationship with Bucky. Steve doesn't go 'bad' but he does stop being Captain America.

There is this really big fic with Captain America going dark. It's called "Captain America: the Civil War"
He goes on a rampage through several cities injuring and killing policemen and civilians alike, and at the end he nearly kills Ironman, then leaves him for dead in a broken suit in the middle of nowhere. I'm sure glad it's not more canon than him being Hydra all along!

Sorry, I was just being sarcastic in that comment. The summary I gave is of the actual movie, which pretty much killed all the love I ever had for Steve.
