Someone trying to cash in

This idea popped into my head from misreading a heading on this site.  I wonder if there are any stories about someone trying to cash in on their connection, no matter how vague, to any of the Avengers.  Maybe someone who knew Hawkeye during his circus days selling his/her story to the press.  Or a child or grandchild (or a bitter ex-spouse looking for a cash cow, maybe) of one of Bucky's siblings trying to extort money or fame from Steve over Barnes' death.  Or victims of the Battle of New York taking the team, or maybe just Tony, to court.  In short, someone looking for money or fame through the courts or the press, on the coattails of the Avengers team.

Sort of fits what you're looking for. It is Darcy-centric, her estranged father comes back telling her he wants to get to know her but it's because he learned she's close to Tony. Then he finds out she's dating Steve and leaks it to the press.

I have read a couple where Tony gets sued for the Battle of NY but I can't recall them off hand. Same with people trying to cash in on connections to the Avengers. There was one fic I remember where right after NY there were people coming forward in the press claiming to be illegitimate children of the different Avengers, secret spouses, etc. But it was on livejournal and I don't remember where.

So yes, there are stories out there, I'll try to find the ones I remember and post the links.

First, thank you for the story link. I read it and instantly fell in love. I hope you (or someone...anyone!) can come up with the other stories mentioned. Those ideas was exactly what I had in mind.

As to claims of illegitimate children I recall one of my favorites stories. The first part of "Five Times Tony Stark Saved and Avenger..." has Steve hit with the claim during a post battle press swarm. It written by Yamx and found at AO3.

Okay, I found the one from livejournal but it is actually on http://asylums.insanejournal.com and friendlocked. It was part of the Necessary 'Verse by lisaroaquin. Tony was following the news post battle of NY and lots of people were coming onto talk shows and claiming to be related to the Avengers. Lots of illegitimate children. I have read 5 Times Tony Stark Saved an Avenger. That was likely one of the ones I was remembering. Another one that brings up illegitimate children is Earth-1796 by rainproof, teaberryblue http://archiveofourown.org/series/80542

It is not a big part but the descendants of one of the USO girls claim that Steve is their grandfather/great-grandfather, either as part of a HYDRA plot or to sue him for support, I don't remember which.

I'm sure there are more, I just don't remember them. Hopefully someone else can recommend more.
