Lab Rat Steve !

so it was in my mind, what if steve was being tested on and being studied, so he still goes to missions, work with the team but always called in to be tested and some of these tests are hard on him physically and emotionally but he does not think it is something to be frowned upon, or something he should protest on, he does not think he could say NO. then the team finds out or not, they help him or not does not matter as long as the story is with in this limit.

I would prefer it to be Stony (with bottom steve) of Gen but any other pairing is acceptable

please help me

I'm fairly certain I read something almost exactly like this, but I can't find it now. Steve's absences for being experimented on were being recorded as solo missions for the Army or something. If it helps anyone else find it, it's likely to be on either Ao3 or avengerkink.

I think it fits what you're looking for, though to be honest I only read the first story and then put it aside for a later time. It's tone didn't fit the mood I was in.

Howard takes over the experiments after Dr. Erskine is killed. In the second story, Bruce finds out what Howard did to Steve...

There is also a story out there that I know I've read (but can't find) where Howard is forced to experiment on Steve by the army. This is how they know about his healing ability, that he can't get drunk, that pain killers don't work on him... And then the Avengers find out...

Found it! A Splintered Tomorrow series by Zelos. The second story is about Howard being ordered to experiment on Steve. (The Scientific Method)
