hi

I'm looking for good, long stories that focus on Loki. Fics where he redeems himself or was abused by odin, or even the sort where Thor's a big jerk, like the stories Wandering child and Lost Boys, or bargaining. Really angsty stuff. For this genre I'd prefer gen but I don't mind slash or het. I don't mind WiP if it is a long fic, really, I'm just looking for all the best loki fic's. I've looked up Loki on AO3 and but you get a really mixed bag when you do it that way, lol. Rec lists would be awesome, if you know of any.

It's a self-rec, but I've been working on a genfic series (the SHIELD Codex) which might amuse. It often goes emotionally angsty - I can't seem to go an installment without somehow beating the crap out of its central characters in some form.

Anyway, Loki and the Agents of SHIELD having dubious hijinks and dancing with notions of redemption. Other characters feature frequently, including moments with Thor and Odin later on. Several long completed installments, and for what it's worth people tell me they enjoy it!

I also rather liked A Villain State of Mind (http://archiveofourown.org/works/516232) and it's sequels.
Summary: Written for the Norsekink prompt: "SHIELD has Loki in custody, with the gag on to keep him from spellcasting, but they don't really know what to DO with him. They can't give him food or water or attempt to interrogate him with the gag on, and they don't dare take it off. Their solution? Call in a telepath! Hey, do you know of any more stories similar to the Tomorrow Might be Good For Something 'Verse by art2_dream2?

I love the whole 'raising an individual of one species as a different species causes issues for that individual' type thing. Particularly when it goes into health care, possible side affects, and malnutrition.

We see it in species on Earth, like feeding a cat nothing but dog food is going to leave you with a very ill and blind cat, and people going insane when kept in conditions that humans should not be kept in.

Yet I seem to find it hard to find fics that explore this with frost giants being raised as aesir.

So, please tell me, do you have any more?

I can think of several stories in which Loki being a Jotun causes issues. I think this fic might be close to what you are looking for.

Loki refuses to believe he really saw his hand turn blue and never confronts Odin in the vault. But the lies Loki tells himself take their toll on his body and when he tries to ignore the illness this causes he finds himself in serious trouble.

This story has very similar themes to art3_dream2's fic, but it deals mostly with Loki's mental health and place in Asgard.

Thor returns to Earth a month after the Chitauri invasion to keep his promises -- to see Jane again, and take her to see Asgard, even if the rainbow bridge is still undergoing repairs. But she wasn't expecting Loki to be haunting the palace library, even in psychiatric care; and Loki wasn't expecting to make friends with Thor's mortal girlfriend.

This one deals with Loki's reaction to finding that he is a Jotun.

This is an interesting story that deals with how Loki's race became so despised on Asgard, from Odin's point of view.
