Hi everyone,

I'm looking for your favourite Tony centric fics. Anything and everything goes. Long and plotty are FTW but I'll take short fics too. I don't mind if they're AU's, movie-compliant or case related fics -so long as they star Tony in the centre.

Gen is fine, as in slash. If you rec me slash, I prefer Tony/Steve or Tony/Bruce.

Pretty much anything I like is Tony-centric, so let's see if I can narrow this down for you (also all of these are Steve/Tony unless otherwise indicated):

I tried to dig back into some older stories, which may not be on other rec lists. I hope at least some of these are what you want!



When The Lights Go On Again (http://cap-ironman.livejournal.com/177544.html)
Summary: Aliens take over the planet and Tony is taken to join the brain pool of captured Earth scientists who are being forced to make nefarious things for nefarious Alien purposes.

This long and...dark isn't really the right word, but it's dense and also intense and occasionally wanders into periods of Clint, who is comics!Clint, so something of an asshole (moreso than his MCU or cartoon counterpart). This is set in 616!verse and does not shirk the details, so everyone's got a rich, complicated history with one another. It's Steve/Tony, though Tony spends most of the fic separated from the rest of the team who are trying in various ways to stop above-mentioned aliens from murder and general mayhem. Also, this story falls, for me, on the wrong side of well-developed OCs and caring-way-more-than-I-do-about-OCs, i.e. OCs with a rich, detailed backstory and history such that if this were an original work I'd call it a strength, but in a fanfic already filled to the brim with characters, it just sort of makes me want them to stop talking so that I can get back to the people I care about.

That said, this is still an amazing piece of work. It's a long, plotty, tense, action-packed read full of Tony inner dialogue and bits of humor and A LOT of cast members. The whole Marvel universe gets involved, but I read this long before I really delved into Marvel and still followed what was going on, because everyone's is completely realized within the story so that you can figure out who they are or at least why they're important. This is definitely one of those don't-start-it-before-you-go-to-bed-because-whoops!-is-that-the-sunrise??? stories.

AND bonus!: If you like this story, these two authors have written a lot more, most of which is LONG and Tony-heavy and lovely.

Tony AS A KITTEN. Turned into a kitten, whatever. It's fluff but it's the best kind of fluff!


Atonement (http://gekizetsu.net/atonementch1.htm)

Supernatural crossover, but you don't need to know anything about Supernatural to understand it. There are demons in the world, fighting with angels. A demon possesses Steve in order to force Tony to do bad things. No fun is had by anyone.

In the complete opposite direction from the kitten story, this is DARK. Demon!Steve is not a good person, and Tony can't fight back for fear of hurting actual!Steve. RAPE/NON-CON WARNING. It's non-graphic, but it's there.

This story doesn't end dark, but most of the rest of the fic is decidedly, deliciously, unhappy.

Tony gets shot. There's fallout and recovery.

The plot in this never really develops, but I LOVE the premise and the characterizations and the way the Avengers close in protectively around Tony in their own, unique ways. It's not, maybe, as long as you want. I, personally, wish it was 50,000 words longer, but it might be good to check out, anyway.

A series of unfortunate events has Tony spiraling into a depression, unsure of the team's need for him. This is set in MA!verse, so a plot which could be dark is washed over with a healthy dose of puppies and rainbows, but there's still plenty of feelings to go around, and a happy ending.

While MA!verse Cap and Iron Man are trying to put together The Avengers, Tony gets hit with something that turns him into a girl! Sneak-dating and identity porn and plot ensue.


Sex Lies and Newsprint (http://archiveofourown.org/works/257349/chapters/401748)

A year of Tony/Steve from the perspective of the paparazzi, sort of. Each chapter begins with an article from the Superhero Star, and the following story tells what really happened and how wrong (or right) the media perception was. It's unfinished, but very close to done, each chapter stands alone, but has a continuous timeline, and like all things set in the MA!verse, this is ADORABLE. Full of wit and charm and humor and lovely emotions, and each chapter has taken a slightly more serious tone. It updates regularly and is nearly finished, so don't let the TBC status alarm you.
