Looking for longfics!

I'll be moving upstate in a few days and would really appreciate some fic recs to dump on my ereader! I'm looking primarily for stories that are epic in length, 50k words at least. Most of my reading so far has been in the Thor/Loki part of the fandom, but I'm branching out to Loki/Tony a bit as well. Completed fics are preferred, but active WIP are very welcome as well!

I tend towards slash fics, but am open towards het pairings or OT3+ pairings as well. Slow buildup for romance is great, although fics that deal with already established relationships are also good. Lots of drama! High tension! But also some comedy or fluff to balance it out. (Pretty much anything by scifigirl47 for example. XD ) I like fics that can hit a range of tone but still come together coherently.

I am an absolute stupid sucker for the following: jotun!Loki, competant!Thor, Tony being a smartass, Clint living in vents, Pepper being awesome, Avengers family feels, Tony's robots, space pirates (I blame Bend Around the Wind for that), Norse mythology ala Asgard, mythology remixes, putting the "universe" in MCU, exploring Jotenheim, exploring Jotuns, intersex!Jotuns, Loki getting 'redeemed' but still being a snarky little morally gray bastard, arranged marriage, the Avengers going from a team to a family, Natasha keeping her cool while everyone else loses their shit, etc.

Death!fics and heavy angst fics I have to take on a case by case basis. I can get immense satisfaction out of fics that put me through the emotional wringer, but don't enjoy stuff that makes me feel like I'm getting punished for reading it.


tl;dr : Moving, need long fics, so what's your favorite pairing/trope and what would you call its must read epics?

Do you know Alis Dee's "Small Things (http://archiveofourown.org/works/529373)"? It's mostly a series of shorter and longer episodes that only have the vaguest plot and is mostly just the author living out her Jotnar-are-actual-people-omg!, Loki-bb-WHY?!, Thor-isn't-as-stupid-as-everyone-thinks and Jane-is-great feels which is tremendous fun if you share those feels, plot or no. It's still a WIP but definitely reliable. (Of course her completed ALiMoM series as excellent too and a must-read for all Loki fans, IMHO)

I've read both of those! "Small Things" is already on my re-read list and ALiMoM would be on it if it weren't fragmented across a series. Alis Dee is amazing as an author. But thank you so much for the recs. :3

I have to rec the Motion Practice Universe (http://archiveofourown.org/series/24545). It's currently 308k and the latest main fic of the universe will be updated tomorrow with likely another 10k. It's an AU where all of the Avengers are lawyers and pairings include (main pairing shifts depending on the fic) Clint/Phil, Steve/Bucky, Bruce/Tony, Natasha/Pepper and Thor/Jane. I put them at the same level as Scifigrl's fics in terms of slow build and drama and humour and fluff and everything really. They are absolutely amazing. Especially Permanency. Definitely worth a read.

Have you read the Housmates series by Coneycat? It's an AU crossover with Being Human UK that starts just after Thor, spans 8 fics, and currently clocks in at over 580,000 words combined. If you like Loki and Thor brotherly feels, action, snarking, and Loki angst, this is the series for you.

Open Hand-verse by ladyk_d_azrael - Thrymskviða reimagined with single-gendered Jotnar, cultural relativism, political machinations and bodice ripping. (Jotun!Loki - Loki/Thrym, Farbauti/Laufey - the second story of the series, which functions as a prequel, is still WIP)
The Prince of Chaos by Chiauve - During the war between the Aesir and Jotunheim, Loki Laufeyson finds a way to escape his hellish life by siding with Asgard and watching his realm fall. Odin brings him back to Asgard and names him his blood-brother. Thor, Odin's young son, develops a sense of hero worship for the newcomer and follows him everywhere. Loki can't shake him off.
As Loki adjusts to a new world and way of life, he comes to realize that the way to power could very well be through this annoying Asgardian prince. (Jotun!Loki, gen and still WIP, last chapter at the Kink Meme).
She blinded me with political science by thingswithteeth - Darcy watched the Avengers defend New York from over two thousand miles away. She could look out her window if she wanted to watch the aftermath. She watches the news instead, and realizes one very important thing: the Avengers have a bit of a PR problem. (Darcy-centric, Bruce/Darcy, still WIP)
Just Another Guy With A Bow by myrmidryad - Clint's life is a steady progression from point A to point B, but it's everything that happens between those points that make the story interesting. Things like joining the circus, losing Barney, finding Barney, stumbling into SHIELD, trusting Coulson, making a different call when he's sent to kill the Black Widow, and becoming part of the dysfunctional Avengers team. (Clint-centric, Clint/Coulson)
Watch and Learn by TamrynEradani - When Clint is a boy he learns to keep out of sight, how to read situations, and how to put others before himself. When Clint is a young man, he gets shot by Agent Phil Coulson, and he learns to put those skills to use.
Clint's formative years, his work with Trickshot, and his long history with SHIELD. The Avengers will be a thing, but their coming together diverges from the movie canon. (Clint-centric, Clint/Coulson)
Armed and Dangerous series by AlchemyAlice - Bucky wakes up. Tony takes a liking to him. Steve frowns a lot. Also, there is some Avenging going on. And tech porn. (Tony/Bucky, Steve/Tony/Bucky, Pepper/Coulson)

If you like Loki!fics and Loki!feels you should not miss Drown (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8116498/) by Ordis; ~125,000 words and still a WIP, but I swear the last chapter posted recently was just as awesome as any of the first ones, making it one of those rare WIP fics that don't lose steam over time and/or length of fic IMHO. I just love its post-Avengers recovering-from-SHIELD's-torture!Loki and the slow, tentative way he makes friends each individual Avenger (Thor not included, natch ;) ) and that its a mutual process. Plus they battle some badder than usual rogue SHIELD baddies, Loki gets to scheme, and Tony has a serious case of Loki!feels -- this fic is my current Loki!fic crush. I wish it was finished just so I had an excuse to reread the whole thing, I usually try to stick to fics a tenth of its length. XD

"After the Avengers capture Loki at the end of the movie, they lock him up as a precaution before shipping him off to Asgard. And being the good guys, they decide to give him the chance to bathe and dress in clean clothes instead of sleeping in his own dirty rags.

The problem is, without the whole battle gear and the drawn and mean look, Loki looks surprisingly young, which prompts the Avengers to ask Thor just how old Loki really is. Of course Loki is centuries old, but Thor tells them that in human standard, Loki would still be considered underage!

Cue to horrified Avengers who wants to know exactly what sort of crappy home life Loki must have had to end up like this before even reaching adulthood."

Summary: None of this was supposed to happen. SHIELD wasn't supposed to find Thor and Loki on Earth three years after the battle. Loki wasn't supposed to be a silent shadow of who he once was. And the Avengers...weren't ever meant to have to endure the madness that would follow. "Cry, Loki. Cry."

The pairing is blackfrost but they're not having sex in every other chapter (in fact i don't think they have sex at all) and it's kind of slow build. it's also full of Loki angst. And redemption.
