New Yorkers protect the Avengers during battles

Dammit! I just read this story one or two days ago and thought I'd saved it to put with another story with the same general story line. The Avengers are battling some bad guy I can't recall (Doom? Maybe?) and the people of NYC fight back with pipes and such, standing between Tony or Clint and the bad guy until the Avenger gets to his feet. The story I have (and recommend) is called Iron Spotting, written by AnonEhouse. A group of people connected by walkie-talkies assist Iron Man when he's fallen by a blow from a Doombot, getting him to a safer spot by motorcycle and supplying a tool to fix a glitch in his suit, and an espresso from Starbucks. Oh, I'd quite like to read the one you've described! As to other stories in a similar vein - as much as this is STONY and I don't do STONY - this is one of the few I happen to like - a lot! *G*

No judgment here - truly! I try to save all my favorite fanfic in MCU, SGA, HP, NCIS, STAOS, etc. in my Calibre database and keep huge chunks of the database on my tablet which is where I read the majority of my fanfic downloads. I used to KILL FORESTS printing out ALL my favorite X-Files fanfic when it first became available on the web. I thank God-god-Goddess-goddess-Gawd-Loki everyday that a good friend talked me into trying to read fanfic on my (brand new at the time NEO) PDA. I barely looked back as my devices morphed over the years to newer with more memory and rechargeable battery PDAs to Kindle Readers to Kindle Fire to Samsung smartphones and tablets. (When I was first reading on my PDAs people on buses, in doctors' waiting rooms, waiting areas in airports/car repair shops or even fellow theater goers waiting for a movie to start would ask what I'm doing. Today most people seem to assume I'm either reading a book or playing a game. Hmmm... I think I just really highlighted my age! 😳
