Clint/Coulson Fic

Looking for a Clint/Coulson fic in which Phil breaks up with Clint because he thinks Clint is going to get hurt and/or die and that it will be too hard for him to take and that if they aren't together it won't hurt so much. Clint is really good about it and does some positive reinforcement with Coulson including kissing him while they are technically not together, but then Clint does get hurt and Phil realizes that even if they are not together, it still hurts a lot. They end up back together. Really hoping someone can help me out with this!

It hits everything you describe except for the 'Clint gets hurt and Coulson realizes...' I just reread this recently and I think it's not quite that simple, but there is ultimately resolution.

I really wish that was it, but that is actually the fic that reminded me of the one that I am trying to think of! I swear I even remember a scene where they are in a supply closet when they are technically broken up and they are making out or something. Clint never loses it like he did in "It's Not the Fall..." either. Thank you for trying!

So, I finally found my own fic. It wasn't exactly as I described in that it is actually Clint that breaks it off with Phil and it is Phil that does the positive reinforcement including pulling Clint into a janitor's closet at one point. It is "I Can't Quit Now, This Can't Be Right..." by Dividedpoet. Now that this mystery has been solved, I can sleep again :)
