Hope someone can help me out here. The story (series?) I'm looking for is an ongoing post at AO3. I think it had an update just a few days ago and I read the new chapter without catching up on the previous ones and now can't recall title or author. Steve and his team, including Sharon and Wanda (?), took a quinjet south, to Brazil or Argentina or some such, on the hunt for Bucky. None of them thought to get any inoculations and they brought back some nasty bugs. I think Steve's serum mutated Ebola and the TB he'd been carrying since Sarah died of it. Sharon and their pilot died and Steve had to swim from the plane when it went down. It effects Steve's eyes in some way. Nat and Tony have to explain to Steve the difference between imprisonment and quarantine.

I don't know the story but if it was on AO3 you should be able to look back in your history for the past few days if you read the new chapter. Maybe you can recognize the title from there.

I think you might be mixing up a couple of stories. The first - which unfortunately I can't recall the title and am still searching at the moment - is one where Friday announces to Tony that Rogers and his group are under quarantine at the compound. That apparently they went to South America without VISAs or inoculations or properly going through custom/borders. That something brought to light that Rogers has TB - apparently within himself dormant - there was talk of having to screen everyone that had been in contact within since he came out of the ice - including SI employees that were in the Tower while he was present and Compound support staff - apparently the serum keeps the TB at bay while Rogers is under normal everyday circumstances but once he is stressed in battle etc. it allow the TB to become active - there was a comment about having to explain to Rogers what Quarantine meant and that it was not imprisonment - I'm searching my bookmarks for this one

The second story is Disassembled (https://archiveofourown.org/works/15135527?view_full_work=true) by Westpass (https://archiveofourown.org/users/Westpass/pseuds/Westpass) - in that story the Rogues are infected with ebola and Rogers does have to swim for it after a plane goes down in the ocean

does that help?

Okay the first story I was looking for is Proper Travel Precautions (https://archiveofourown.org/works/16635011) by TheSovereigntyofReality (https://archiveofourown.org/users/TheSovereigntyofReality/pseuds/TheSovereigntyofReality).

Steve only got in one Bucky-finding trip before he was caught.

When one travels abroad, they must be aware of the dangers.

We really need a tag for bashfics.

Right?? Is it not enough that there are already ten million fics where Captain America get what's coming to him for hurting Tony's fee-fees, but now he also brings ebola into countries. Jesus, Tony stans, resentment is corrosive.

“Tony’s fee-fees”? Really? Maybe we should all check for resentment?

Yeah, that’s a great idea. A tag for bashfics would allow people to avoid the search or seek it out, as preferred.

Yeah exactly. I know there's a few people - such as OP of this post - who seem to seek out bashfic almost to the exclusion of all else, while there are others who just search in good faith for just about anything and still others who specifically request non-bashy fic.

For people who genuinely like the characters people regularly seek to bash it can be really discouraging to follow the tag only to repeatedly see bash-searches, while it seems to agitate bashfic-seekers when someone uses a character tag to seek non-bashy fic (I've had a few fic searches commented on by antis who seemed to take offence at the fact I wasn't looking for bashfic for that character). Both bashfic seekers and non-bashfic seekers are making valid use of the tags, but this appears to be one case where correct tagging isn't helping to make the comm welcoming. Having tags to differentiate would probably be helpful for everyone and prevent arguments and misunderstandings.

Can any user create new tags when they post, or does it require a mod? If the latter, someone should probably message the mod to ask for tags, possibly via tumblr -- they seem not to have been on LJ for a while and may not be keeping up with discussions on the comm.

ETA: I see now that there is a tag requests page (https://avengers-search.livejournal.com/4296.html) and it hasn't been checked in some time. I'm going to drop [livejournal.com profile] xbeax a note on tumblr.
