kerravonsen: Hexagonal corridors of the Liberator: "Hexagons are scifi love" (SF-hexagons)
[personal profile] kerravonsen
I can't remember where I originally found this story, or who wrote it, or what the title was, but it begins with Tony waking up in the far future, and the people there are trying to persuade him to give them an override code for the Iron Man armour because the current "Iron Man" (the mantle has been passed on) has gone rogue and become a mass murderer. Tony has limited access to the facility they're in, and he finds that frustrating, and pokes his nose in where he isn't allowed, and discovers that this is a simulation and that he's an Upload -- that is, the original Tony Stark is long dead, and he is an AI based on a brain scan of Tony when he was still alive. It turns out that the people he's in the hands of are the bad guys, trying to trick him, and that they've already run the simulation multiple times and he's always managed to figure it out before they can get the code out of him (so they wipe his memory and try again).

I think there may also be a digital/AI version of Steve Rogers too.

Has anyone come across this? Thanks.
