I'm looking for a story where the Avengers end up on another planet where they helped keep the planet from being taking over. But when they return to that planet time has passed and the people see them as gods.

I don't know of this particular fic, but I do know of one that might be related to your interests.

In it, the Avengers work alongside the gods of Greek mythology to save the universe, and the Greek gods mention that the Avengers are revered and seen as something along the lines of deities in their world.
